Sleep Doctor’s Take: Logan & Cove Frontier Hybrid

The Logan & Cove Frontier Hybrid features a Euro-top surface and supportive coil-on-coil design. Adaptive foam and microcoil layers contour evenly, resulting in great pressure relief for members of our team who weigh 130 pounds or more. Zoned pocketed coils also ensure excellent reinforcement for the torso and hips, areas where many people carry a disproportionate amount of weight.

Logan & Cove Frontier Hybrid: An Introduction

The Logan & Cove Frontier Hybrid uses a Euro-top cushioned with adaptive polyfoam, microcoils, transitional foam, and zoned pocketed coils to create a balanced medium firm (6) feel. This mattress debuted in 2023 and is available from GoodMorning.com, which is one of Canada’s leading online mattress brands.

We’ll discuss how the Logan & Cove Frontier Hybrid feels, how it performed during our hands-on tests, and which types of sleepers will enjoy it the most. If you live in Canada, the mattress is easily accessible, and our findings can help you decide whether it’s right for you.

How We Review

We use a variety of hands-on methods to evaluate each bed’s performance and how it responds to factors such as weight and movement. Our extensive research can help you choose a mattress that works best for you.

What’s It Like to Sleep on the Logan & Cove Frontier Hybrid Mattress?

The Logan & Cove Frontier Hybrid offers a balance of contouring and support. A Euro-top cushioned with adaptive polyfoam gives the mattress a plush surface, while microcoils, transitional polyfoam, and zoned pocketed coils provide sturdy support. Both coil layers promote steady air circulation and the top foam layer is infused with cooling gel, so the mattress also sleeps at a comfortable temperature.

We found the Frontier Hybrid to be an ideal choice for side sleepers who weigh at least 130 pounds, back sleepers weighing up to 230 pounds, and stomach sleepers between 130 and 230 pounds.

Logan & Cove Frontier Hybrid Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Plush Euro-top adds a layer of cushioning
  • Zoned construction provides additional support to hips and lower back
  • All orders come with a generous 365-night trial period

Cons

  • Mattress may feel too firm for side sleepers under 130 pounds
  • Coil-on-coil design may lead to excessive motion transfer for couples
  • The sticker price is high compared to other mattresses from GoodMorning.com

Sleeping Positions, Body Weight, and Firmness

The Logan & Cove Frontier Hybrid is medium firm, or a 6 on our 10-point firmness scale. A person’s body type and preferred sleeping position can influence the level of firmness they need for optimal support. Our testing team takes these factors into consideration when determining our ratings.

Back Sleepers4/54/53/5

Side Sleepers

Most of our side sleepers weighing 130 pounds or more received adequate support from the Frontier Hybrid. The zoned coils deliver enough support to keep the shoulders and hips aligned with the spine, which in turn helps ensure little to no pressure for people who use this position. However, some side sleepers on our team under 130 pounds found the mattress overly firm.

Back Sleepers

Some of the Frontier Hybrid’s most favorable ratings came from our back sleepers. Those weighing up to 230 pounds were particularly impressed with the balanced feel of the mattress. The surface offers even contouring to alleviate pressure, while the zoned coils push back against extra weight from the midsection to keep back sleepers on an even plane.

Stomach Sleepers

Our stomach sleepers weighing up to 230 pounds also felt comfortable on the Frontier Hybrid. The zoned coils create enough pushback to prevent excessive sinkage around the torso and hips. Stomach sleepers weighing more than 230 pounds also gave the mattress positive ratings, but they did not receive as much support as their lighter counterparts.

Our Performance Ratings

During our testing process, we rated the Logan & Cove Frontier Hybrid several performance categories. We used a 5-point scale, with 1 meaning poor and 5 meaning excellent.

Pressure Relief

Rating: 3/5

The Frontier Hybrid’s topmost layer of adaptive foam contours evenly to your body, and the microcoil and transitional polyfoam layers provide additional cushioning. The zoned coils also help ensure strong support and minimal sinkage beneath your midsection. Although the mattress is relatively firm, most of our testers weighing up to 230 pounds felt little to no pressure buildup.

Temperature Neutrality

Rating: 4/5

Our tests showed that the Logan & Cove Mattress Frontier Hybrid sleeps quite cool. We’ve attributed this to the gel infusion in the top foam layer, which helps draw heat away from the surface, and steady airflow through both coil layers. The polyfoam also hugs the body less than traditional memory foam and does not retain as much heat as a result. People who consider themselves hot sleepers are great candidates for the Frontier Hybrid, even if they’ve felt uncomfortable on other mattresses with foam layers.

Motion Isolation

Rating: 2/5

During our tests, we noticed a fair amount of motion transfer on the Frontier Hybrid’s surface. The two coil layers make the mattress responsive, resulting in a noticeable bounce when you get in and out of bed. While the Frontier Hybrid is not as responsive as a traditional innerspring, you may experience sleep disruptions if you share your bed with a partner and they are prone to tossing and turning, frequent position changes, or trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

Edge Support

Rating: 4/5

Most testers encountered little — if any — sinkage during our edge support tests. Reinforced coils make the perimeter feel stable, and we noticed strong pushback when getting on and off the Frontier Hybrid. People who weigh more than 230 pounds may experience “roll-off” if they sleep close to the edges, but lighter individuals should remain secure and be able to use the entire mattress surface.

Durability

Rating: 3/5

The Logan & Cove Frontier Hybrid uses high-quality foam and coils from Canadian manufacturers. Assuming the mattress is placed on a sturdy base and properly maintained, we believe the mattress will live up to or outlast the average seven-year lifespan of a hybrid model.

Ease of Movement

Rating: 4/5

The pocketed coils in the Frontier Hybrid’s support core help to provide some springiness and responsiveness that may not be evident in an all-foam bed. Extra bounce from the microcoil layer also helps you move across the surface without sinking too much. Most of our testers reported that the mattress allows for comfortable movement and sleep position changes.

Sex

Rating: 3/5

The Logan & Cove Frontier Hybrid is suitable for sex thanks to its responsive feel, sturdy edge support, and consistent temperature control. Some couples may struggle with the adaptive foam top layer and feel as though they are “fighting with” the mattress, but we expect most people to find the Frontier Hybrid to accommodate most people in this regard.

Off-Gassing

Rating: 4/5

Off-gassing refers to the release of volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, that can occur when a new mattress is unpackaged. VOCs are generally considered harmless, but the off-gassing process can create a temporary, unpleasant odor. The Frontier Hybrid contains synthetic foam in its comfort layers, and this contributes to the potential for off-gassing. However, odors were not too harsh after unboxing the mattress and these smells completely dissipated within 24 hours.

What Is the Logan & Cove Mattress Made Of?

The Frontier Hybrid features a Euro-top surface and four individual layers. Adaptive polyfoam cushions the surface, making the mattress feel initially plush when you get into bed, but microcoils, transitional polyfoam, and zoned pocketed coils create a strong support system. This “coil-on-coil” design also makes the mattress exceptionally springy, and air flows freely through both coil layers to help you stay cool. The pocketed coils are zoned to feel sturdier beneath your midsection and along the perimeter.

A quilted cover encases the mattress. The cover fabric is woven with proprietary CryoFusion fibers intended to dissipate heat from the surface. At 13.5 inches thick, the Frontier Hybrid is considered a high-profile mattress.
