Some manufacturers also offer a split king size, which consists of two twin XL mattresses side-by-side. What Is the Difference Between a King and California King?
King and California king mattresses are both suitable for couples, but they address slightly different needs. At 72 inches wide and 84 inches long, California king mattresses are the longest standard bed size available, making them great for tall sleepers and anyone who sleeps with a pet at the foot of the bed.
However, California kings are 4 inches narrower than a standard king, which means they offer less surface area to move or stretch out side-to-side. They’re also generally the most expensive standard mattress size.

Who Is a King Size Mattress Best For?
King size mattresses are best for families, couples, sleepers who share the bed with pets, or anyone who wants more mattress space to spread out or move around. This extra space can make co-sleeping more comfortable, especially if one sleeper tends to switch positions during the night.
