Zoma Hybrid Mattress Review

Zoma Hybrid Mattress: An Introduction
Zoma’s collection of mattresses was developed with an eye toward the rest and recovery of athletes, but we found the resulting lineup to have a broader appeal. Featuring three options, including the all-foam Zoma Start, the Zoma Hybrid, and the upgraded Zoma Boost, the brand’s focus on improving performance through thoughtful engineering translates well across activity levels.
We’ll take a closer look at the Zoma Hybrid Mattress, delving into what it’s like to sleep on the brand’s original hybrid option and how it ranks across key performance categories. We’ll also explore how much it costs, where you can find it, and answer frequently asked questions.
How We Review
Our testers are sleep product experts with a range of body types and preferred sleep positions. This allows us to deliver informed recommendations representing multiple viewpoints so you can select the best mattress for your needs.
What’s It Like to Sleep on the Zoma Hybrid?
The Zoma Hybrid is an affordable option for sleepers seeking the balance of support and comfort that hybrids offer. Made with memory foam in the upper layer backed by a layer of responsive polyfoam, the sleep surface offers mild contouring that maintains enough bounceback to ease movement. Pocketed springs in the core deliver targeted pushback, with ideal support for side sleepers weighing between 130 and 230 pounds.
However, the Zoma Hybrid’s medium firm (6) feel may not be supportive enough for heavier side sleepers. Back and stomach sleepers might also experience sinkage that results in uncomfortable pressure points, especially if they weigh over 230 pounds.
Zoma Hybrid Mattress Pros and Cons
Pros
- Medium firm feel works particularly well for side sleepers weighing between 130 and 230 pounds
- Responsive transitional layer and bouncy springs promote ease of movement
- Lower price-point makes it an economical option
Cons
- Sleepers over 230 pounds may not receive adequate support
- Stomach sleepers over 130 pounds might experience sinkage
- Average temperature regulation may not be sufficient for hot sleepers
Sleeping Positions, Body Weight, and Firmness
Our testers rated the Zoma Hybrid mattress a 6 on the 10-point firmness scale. Its medium firm feel, balancing comfort and support, is especially well suited for side sleepers weighing between 130 and 230 pounds.
Zoma Hybrid Mattress Sleeper Ratings
Side Sleepers
Gel-infused memory foam in the comfort layer offers deep contouring and the pocketed coil core provides support and promotes spinal alignment. Our testers noticed the Zoma Hybrid worked exceptionally well for our side sleepers weighing between 130 and 230 pounds.
Lighter side sleepers on our team found the mattress on par with other medium firm hybrids. Our testers weighing over 230 pounds gave the Zoma Hybrid lower marks, citing noticeable sinkage around the hips.
Back Sleepers
Our back-sleeping testers weighing less than 230 pounds reported the Zoma Hybrid delivered enough comfort and support to relieve pressure points and maintain a neutral spine. However, those weighing over 230 pounds wanted a firmer feel, as they experienced too much give through the middle third of the mattress for proper alignment.
Stomach Sleepers
Our stomach sleepers under 130 pounds experienced average levels of comfort and support from the Zoma Hybrid, while those weighing over 130 pounds felt there was inadequate pushback from the coils. This allowed their torsos to dip too far into the sleep surface, negatively impacting spinal alignment.
Our Performance Ratings
What Is the Zoma Hybrid Mattress Made Of?
The Zoma Hybrid has an AirCloth mesh cover made from a blend of polyester and spandex that’s both breathable and stretchy. Its 2-inch comfort layer is made from gel memory foam designed to conform to the body while wicking away heat, and built-in perforations increase airflow. A 2-inch Reactiv polyfoam transition layer underscores the mattress’ contouring capability while enhancing responsiveness.
A support core made from 7-inch pocketed coils creates a strong foundation while offering targeted pushback, and a final 1-inch layer of durable polyfoam provides added stability.
All foams used in the Zoma Hybrid are CertiPUR-US certified free of harmful chemicals and low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Zoma Hybrid Mattress FAQ
Zoma is based in Scottsdale, Arizona, and its mattresses are made in the United States.
Besides the Zoma Hybrid, the company also makes the all-foam Zoma Start, as well as the brand’s newest model, the Zoma Boost, a high-end hybrid with additional layers and features.
Zoma recommends a sturdy foundation for the Hybrid, like a platform or slatted base, that can provide consistent support across the entire underside of the mattress. Zoma does not recommend using a box spring with supports less than 3 inches apart.
