How It Works

The SOMO Sleep Fitness Mask combines full light-blocking coverage with a patented acupressure feature called the SOMOsphere™. The Ying Tang point (also spelled Yintang) is an acupressure point located between your eyebrows—an area associated with calm and relaxation in Eastern medicine. The light pressure helps activate your parasympathetic nervous system, which can lower stress and signal your body it’s time to rest. 

At the same time, the contoured mask blocks out light without pressing on your eyes or lashes, creating a comfortable environment for deeper, uninterrupted sleep.

How to Use It

Wear it as part of your nightly sleep hygiene routine to relax and fall asleep more quickly. Simply place the mask over your eyes and adjust the strap for a snug, comfortable fit. Make sure the SOMOsphere™ acupressure bead rests gently between your eyebrows.

What’s the difference between the Sport and Luxe versions?

The Sport version features a detachable, adjustable headband with attachment points at the temples. It’s great for side sleepers, as it offers more customization and lays flat with no bulky hardware.

The Luxe version has a fixed headband that’s slightly thicker and stretchier, wrapped in soft ruched fabric. It’s snug and cozy—some describe it as a “hug for your head.” Both versions are comfortable, light-blocking, and designed to stay in place. Your choice comes down to fit and personal preference.

How do I adjust the mask for the best fit?

  1. Shape the mask: Gently pinch the nose wire to contour it around your face and cheeks, centering the SOMOsphere™ between your eyebrows.
  2. Adjust the headband:
  • Luxe: Stretch the band for a secure fit.
  • Sport: Use the Velcro tabs to customize the tension and placement—position it above the ears and around the back of your head.

3. Stretch if needed: For a better fit, wear the mask and gently pull it forward to stretch the band. Do this a few times until it feels just right.

What is the SOMOsphere™ acupressure point?

It’s a small, padded pressure point built into the mask, designed to rest between your eyebrows at the Yin Tang (or Yintang) point. In traditional Eastern medicine, this area is known for promoting calm and reducing stress.

How do I activate the acupressure point?

The mask applies gentle, constant pressure to the Yin Tang point. For extra relaxation, press lightly on the SOMOsphere™ for 30 to 60 seconds or try a slow circular motion to enhance the effect.

Will it press on my eyes or lashes?

No. The mask’s dome shape keeps it lifted off your eyes, making it ideal for long lashes and preventing pressure on the eyelids.

Will it stay on all night?

Yes. When fitted correctly, both the Sport and Luxe masks are designed to stay in place—no matter your sleep position.

Is it comfortable for side or stomach sleepers?

Yes. The seamless, low-profile design of both masks eliminates pressure points, making them a great fit for any sleep position.

How can I tell if I’ve fitted it correctly?

The mask should feel secure but not tight, with the SOMOsphere™ resting between your eyebrows. The headband should sit above your ears and wrap around the back of your head comfortably.

Will the Velcro pull my hair?

No. The Sport version uses a soft-touch fastening system designed to avoid hair snags. Both versions are made with comfort in mind.

Is the mask available in different sizes?

Not currently. The SOMO mask is made to fit most adult face and head shapes.

Can I bend the mask for travel or storage?

We don’t recommend bending it, as this may damage the built-in acupressure point. Use the included travel case to protect your mask when on the go.

Can older kids use the SOMO mask?

Older children can use the mask as part of a healthy sleep routine. However, it’s not recommended for babies due to safety risks.

    Had High Expectations!

    The mask is well made, but I feel it's quite small; the part that covers your eyes. I wished the holes that go over your eyes were deeper, as opening your eyes while wearing the mask is not comfortable. I don't have an unusally large head, but even after adjusting the straps it still is tight on. I'll be going back to the previous eyemask that I have.

    Gives me a rash

    I like the contoured mask. I have long eyelashes and other masks but my eyelashes but this one does not. But, the acupuncture point gives me a rash where it presses on my forehead. It is also hard to adjust to the right size. The strap is too long and I have a large head. I can’t imagine how someone with a small head would be able to wear it.

    Great sleep mask

    Overall this is much better than the headbands I’ve been using for years. The gap alleviating pressure on my eyes is welcomed, and even with my eyes open it is completely black. My only complaint is that the band is a little on the large side. When adjusted to my desired tightness the Velcro barley connects, so loosening for more Velcro connection is what I have to do. With it adjusted in this manner the mask will sometimes come off during my sleep.

    Was hesitant, but fell in love
