Luna TravelPAP FAQs

Is Luna CPAP FDA-approved?

Yes, the Luna TravelPAP (also known as Luna CPAP) is FDA‑approved, meaning it has passed safety and effectiveness reviews for treating obstructive sleep apnea. This includes clearances such as FDA 510(k) for the Luna PAP and Auto-CPAP systems.

Does the Luna TravelPAP require a prescription?

Yes, like all PAP devices, the Luna TravelPAP requires a valid prescription from a licensed healthcare provider. It cannot be purchased without one.

If your prescription has expired or isn’t accessible, Sleep Doctor can help you obtain a prescription renewal at no extra charge. Just place your order and follow the instructions provided to schedule a complimentary virtual consultation with a board-certified sleep specialist.

Will my insurance cover a second PAP for me to travel?

While policies vary, most insurance plans—including Medicare—typically allow only one PAP device per five years. That means if you’ve recently received a primary CPAP or PAP unit, your insurer is unlikely to cover a second travel-specific device within that timeframe.

Some exceptions may occur—for example, if your current machine is fully depreciated, damaged, or prescribed differently—but these cases are rare. To explore your options, check with your insurance provider to understand your plan’s policy and eligibility.

Can I bring the Luna TravelPAP through TSA?

Yes, you can bring your Luna TravelPAP through TSA security. It counts as a medical device, not a standard carry-on bag. At the checkpoint, remove it from its carrying case so it can go through the X-ray machine, while your facemask and tubing can stay in the case.

Please refer to the TSA website for specific details. You can also check out the patient brochure on Flying With Your PAP Device.

Can I use the Luna TravelPAP on an airplane?

Yes — the Luna TravelPAP is FAA‑approved for in-flight use. Make sure to bring your prescribed documentation and the official FAA compliance letter (available from React Health) when flying. Once onboard, you can use the device regardless of whether a dedicated power outlet is available, as long as you comply with airline policy and have the necessary battery or power adapter.

Can I use the Luna TravelPAP every night or is it just for travel?

Yes. While designed for portability, the Luna TravelPAP is fully equipped for nightly use at home or on the go.

Does the Luna TravelPAP include a battery?

No, a battery is not included. However, the device can be powered using an optional 12V DC adapter with compatible external batteries.

Can my physician access my compliance data from the Luna TravelPAP?

Yes, React Health has a software program for clinicians called React Health Connect. Your care team, including your physician, will be able to access your data from the Luna TravelPAP on React Health Connect.
