The AirSense 10 AutoSet can be used as either a CPAP or APAP machine depending on what your doctor believes is best for your needs. The AirSense 10 series also includes an AutoSet for Her model and a CPAP-only Elite model.
The AirSense 10 AutoSet’s APAP algorithm uses the lowest effective air pressure level at any given moment. Some people appreciate the lower pressure levels, while others dislike how often the pressure level changes.
Although the AirSense 10’s primary selling point is its APAP algorithm, it also offers a color LCD screen, heated tubing, and comfort-oriented features like expiratory pressure relief (EPR) and automatic ramp settings. These features lower the pressure level when you exhale and slowly raise the pressure level as you fall asleep.

Size and Value
The AirSense 10 is slightly shorter than a standard toaster and about half the height, making it the right size for most bedside tables. The integrated humidifier tank does make the AirSense 10 larger than models without this feature, but at less than three pounds the machine still fits comfortably into carry-on luggage.
Although the AirSense 10 is more expensive than most CPAP machines, its price-point is slightly lower than most other APAP machines with similar features. You may also be able to find the AirSense 10 available at a discount since it is not the latest in ResMed’s AirSense series.

- Ease of Use: A color LCD screen, intuitive prompts and menus, and a large dial control make the AirSense 10 relatively easy to use for people with vision or dexterity concerns. The machine also comes with straightforward instructions that include troubleshooting for common problems.
- Portability: Although the AirSense 10 is significantly larger than most PAP machines designed for travel, it is small enough to fit into most luggage and is FAA-approved for use during flight. However, frequent flyers may prefer a travel PAP machine with features like waterless humidification.
- Pressure Settings: Both the CPAP and APAP settings on the AirSense 10 have a pressure range of 4 to 20 centimeters of water pressure (cm H2O). This is a common pressure range for CPAP machines and is likely to serve the needs of most users.
- Air-Temperature Control: Using the included ClimateLineAir tubing allows you to use the automatic Climate Control setting or manually change the air temperature level. There are no air temperature controls that are available when using a standard CPAP hose.
- Humidity Control: You can manually choose a humidity level between 1 and 8 or set your machine to select the correct humidity automatically. However, choosing a high humidity level without using the ClimateLineAir heated tubing may cause condensation, known as rainout, within the tubing.
- Compatibility: The AirSense 10, like most other CPAP machines, is fully compatible with most CPAP masks, standard tubing, and other accessories regardless of the manufacturer. However, ClimateLineAir tubing is the only heated CPAP hose that can be used with this machine.
- Maintenance: ResMed suggests that users wash the tank and air tubing once a week using warm, soapy water. After washing, the components should be rinsed thoroughly and left to dry on a cloth out of direct sunlight.

While there are few common complaints about the AirSense 10, some users have found that its climate controls are less effective in areas with extremely high or low environmental humidity. Using the humidifier without the heated ClimateLineAir tubing has also been known to cause excessive condensation, or rainout, in the tubing.
