Overview: Luna G3 vs. AirSense 11
The Luna G3 was released in 2021 and is manufactured by React Health, which was called 3B Medical at the time of the release. There are two CPAP models in the G3 line: the fixed-air CPAP model, called the LG3500, and the auto-CPAP machine, called the LG3600.
React Health also has two bilevel PAP (BiPAP) devices under the Luna G3 line: the Bilevel 25A, called the LG3700, and the Bilevel ST 30Vt, called the LG3800. This comparison review focuses on the fixed and auto-CPAP Luna G3 units, not the BiPAP models.
Both CPAP units come equipped with comfort features, like RESlex pressure relief, which lowers air pressure during exhalation. They also both have large screens and a physical dial to use for settings navigation. Heated humidification and heated tubing come standard on all Luna G3 models.
Like the Luna G3 models, the ResMed AirSense 11 was also released in 2021 and comes in both fixed-air and auto-CPAP versions. ResMed also has a BiPAP machine as part of their 11 line, but they call it the AirCurve 11, rather than the AirSense. The fixed-air CPAP model is called the AirSense 11 Elite, while the auto-CPAP AirSense 11 is called the AutoSet. The AutoSet model comes with the option to use AutoSet for Her mode, which is a special algorithm tailored to treat sleep apnea in women.
The AirSense 11 has many comfort features, like the Luna G3. Because these machines share many similarities, it's helpful to look at their differences when trying to decide between them.

Key Differences Between Luna G3 and AirSense 11
There are some key differences between the AirSense 11 and Luna G3. The AirSense 11 is a bit smaller and lighter, which may make it easier to travel with. While both models feature a screen that displays settings and data, the Luna G3 is controlled using a physical dial, while the AirSense 11 has a touch screen. The touch screen is a more advanced form of technology than the Luna G3's LCD screen, but some people prefer using a dial to navigate settings.
In terms of pressure and comfort features, these machines operate similarly. They both come in fixed-air models that release air at a steady rate of pressure, as well as auto-CPAP models that automatically adjust air pressure levels throughout the night based on need. Both have a ramp comfort feature, which allows pressure to gradually increase when the device is first turned on. Similarly, both have a pressure relief feature, which lowers air pressure at the beginning of each exhale. The noise level of each is nearly identical and are considered quiet CPAP machines.
Differences arise when you compare these devices in terms of connectivity. Both React Health and ResMed have companion apps that pair with the machines. The Luna G3 integrates with the React Health PLUS, and the AirSense 11 with myAir. But, the Luna G3 links to the app using a Cellular connection, while the AirSense 11 can use newer technology and update myAir via Bluetooth. Also, both apps display data about therapy usage, but myAir goes beyond that by providing assistance with set up, mask fit, troubleshooting, and more.

Design and Ease of Use
The Luna G3 and AirSense 11 have similar overall designs, but there are differences. Similarities include being operated by a power supply (rather than a battery), having a built-in water chamber that must be filled if heated humidification is used, and featuring a screen that displays settings and data.
Some design differences are apparent, however. The AirSense 11 is a bit smaller and lighter and features a more rounded, sleeker design. Aside from a large Start/Stop button on top, this model is primarily controlled via a touch screen. In contrast, the Luna G3 is controlled with a physical dial.
Therapy Modes and Pressure Features
These machines are nearly identical in terms of therapy modes and pressure features. Both come in fixed-pressure and auto-CPAP models. Both also come with ramp and pressure relief features that lower air pressure at key times to improve comfort.
The one major difference is that the AirSense 11 AutoSet, which is the auto-CPAP model, has AutoSet for Her, a proprietary algorithm developed to provide the best PAP therapy treatment for women, based on gender-specific breathing patterns.
Comfort and Noise
In addition to having air pressure-related comfort features, both of these machines also center sleepers' comfort through heated humidification, which can reduce dryness and discomfort. The Luna G3 always comes with heated tubing. Whether or not the AirSense 11 comes with heated tubing depends on where you purchase the machine from and can contribute to a higher price.
As far as noise goes, both of these devices are about as quiet as a whisper, but the AirSense 11 has been rated as 1 dB quieter than the Luna G3. Each machine also has an ambient light sensor and automatically adjusts the screen's brightness to match the light level in the room.
Smart Features and Data Tracking
Both the Luna G3 and the AirSense 11 have data tracking and share usage data on the machines' LCD screens, through companion apps, and to your healthcare provider, if desired. The AirSense 11 has the most up-to-date tech with its touch screen controls and Bluetooth connection options. The myAir app that connects with the AirSense 11 also offers a wider array of features beyond those offered by the React Health PLUS app.
Price and Insurance Considerations
The AirSense 11 tends to run roughly $150 more than the Luna G3 when it's sold with heated tubing. This price difference largely stems from the credibility of the ResMed name, as well as the advanced features offered through the myAir app.
If you plan on using insurance for your CPAP, talk to your insurance provider and doctor before placing an order for the device you prefer. They may need to give prior approval or have you place the order through a specific process in order to receive coverage.
