SweetNight CoolNest Ultra Mattress: An Introduction
Launched in 2011, SweetNight focuses on affordably priced sleep products. The SweetNight CoolNest Ultra is one of the brand’s most advanced models, aiming to deliver a cooler sleep experience at a reasonable cost. It is the premium model in the CoolNest line, which also includes the SweetNight CoolNest and the upgraded SweetNight CoolNest Pro.
This all-foam model comes in 12-inch, 14-inch, and 16-inch versions, which we rate as having medium firm (6), medium (5), and medium soft (4) feels, respectively.
How We Review
Leveraging our product testing methodology, we analyzed all three versions of the SweetNight CoolNest Ultra. For the most comprehensive and inclusive overview of its performance, we included testers with different body types and position preferences. In addition to collecting subjective feedback from these testers, we took objective measures of temperature regulation, surface vibrations, and pressure buildup to determine how the mattress performs for different sleepers.
What’s It Like to Sleep on the SweetNight CoolNest Ultra?
The SweetNight CoolNest Ultra comes in three firmness options: medium soft (4), medium (5), and medium firm (6). Performance varies slightly, but all three designs stand out for their pressure relief and motion isolation.
The SweetNight CoolNest Ultra’s generous comfort system deeply cradles the sleeper to reduce pressure buildup for those prone to discomfort around their hips and shoulders. The plush foams and close hug also substantially limit the spread of vibrations, which may help anyone who is easily awakened when their sleep partner moves in bed.

Sleeping Positions, Body Weight, and Firmness
Three firmness and profile options are available for the SweetNight CoolNest Ultra. The 12-inch has a medium firm (6) feel, the 14-inch is medium (5), and the 16-inch is medium soft (4). These ratings are based on our 10-point firmness scale, with 1 as the softest and 10 as the firmest.
To get the clearest picture of how the SweetNight CoolNest Ultra may perform for different sleepers, we include testers with a range of body types and position preferences.
Choosing a mattress can be difficult, but taking into account your weight and preferred sleep position can help point you in the right direction. While side sleepers and individuals under 130 pounds frequently prefer a softer surface, stomach sleepers and those over 230 pounds more often favor firmer support. Back sleepers and individuals between 130 and 230 pounds generally fall more toward the middle of the range.

Side Sleepers
Since side sleepers Since side sleepers often benefit from a pressure-relieving mattress, SweetNight CoolNest Ultra’s ample comfort system and notable contouring were a good match for most of our team members who favor the position.
However, their firmness preferences varied considerably. Those under 130 pounds generally preferred the medium soft (4) option, while those weighing 130 pounds or more gave the medium firm (6) option the highest marks.
Back Sleepers
Back sleepers usually appreciate a mattress that molds to the curve of their spine without letting their hips sag in and pull their spine out of alignment. Our testers noted that the robust comfort system cushioned and cradled their bodies, while the zoned support limited sinkage around their hips.
Across weight groups, our testers preferred the medium firm (6) version for its extra support. However, most team members up to 230 pounds also found the softer options moderately comfortable for back sleeping.
Stomach Sleepers
Stomach sleepers typically need the most support of any position to prevent their midsections from dragging their spines out of alignment. At the same time, they often enjoy some surface-level cushioning, like the SweetNight CoolNest Ultra’s comfort system provides.
Because support was their highest priority, our testers preferred the medium firm (6) version of the SweetNight CoolNest Ultra. Some testers, especially those over 130 pounds, felt like it was difficult to maintain good sleep posture on the softer options.

What Is the SweetNight CoolNest Ultra Made Of?
While the construction of the SweetNight CoolNest Ultra may vary slightly between the three profile options, the midrange, 14-inch model consists of a four-layer comfort system over a polyfoam core.
The CoolNest Ultra is encased in a polyester cover designed to feel cool to the touch. Underneath, a layer of proprietary polyfoam infused with phase change material is engineered to help regulate temperatures. The next layer uses proprietary memory foam intended to allow more airflow than traditional memory foam.
Another layer of memory foam under that deepens the contouring, while a gel infusion and ventilation are built for extra heat dissipation. A transitional polyfoam layer with seven firmness zones adds targeted support and conforming to promote spinal alignment. Finally, a polyfoam core enhances the stability, and a slip-resistant fabric base helps the mattress stay put.
