With its thick layers of foam and its pocketed coil support core, the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid provides an impressive balance of comfort and support. We especially recommend this hybrid mattress for side sleepers, who are likely to benefit the most from the pressure relief provided by the Luxe Hybrid’s cushioning layers of memory foam and polyfoam.

DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid: An Introduction

DreamCloud is an online mattress brand that offers three hybrid options: the flagship DreamCloud Classic Hybrid, the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid, and the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid. All of these mattresses are also available as coil-free, all-foam models.

What’s It Like to Sleep on the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid?

The DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid has a soft, cushioning feel with enough underlying support to earn the bed a medium (5) firmness rating. You’ll feel yourself sink lightly and comfortably into the mattress, which can relieve pressure around your shoulders and hips. This pressure relief is particularly noticeable if you’re a side sleeper.

The Luxe Hybrid’s combination of foams and individually wrapped coils makes for a quiet sleeping experience, and you shouldn’t feel much movement from a partner, children, or pets on the other side of the bed. However, the bed may be too plush for those who prefer a firm feel.

Side Sleepers

This mattress was a favorite among our side sleepers, especially those who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds. The medium feel contours the body, cushioning the hips and shoulders. However, side sleepers over 230 pounds may sink into the mattress a bit too much for comfort.

Back Sleepers

Our testers who sleep on their back generally felt comfortable on the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid. However, some back sleepers may prefer a slightly firmer mattress in order to get the necessary support in the lumbar area.

Stomach Sleepers

Most stomach sleepers need a firm sleeping surface to prevent their midsection from sinking too far into the mattress. Because of this, stomach sleepers weighing over 130 may find that the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid is too soft for them. The medium firm (6) DreamCloud Premier Hybrid could be a better fit.

Our testers found that the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid’s pillow-top cover and plush foam comfort layers effectively relieved pressure points by contouring to the body’s natural shape. This mattress provides very good cushioning to reduce pressure points and promote spinal alignment, particularly for people who sleep on their side.

Temperature Control

We were impressed with the Luxe Hybrid’s ability to keep cool. The hybrid design maintains a comfortable temperature for sleepers thanks to its coil-based support core that allows for plenty of airflow through the mattress. The Luxe Hybrid’s cashmere blend cover is designed to wick away heat and further enhance temperature control.

Motion Isolation

4/10

The thick foam layers in the Luxe Hybrid isolate motion well, preventing it from spreading from one side of the bed to the other. This motion isolation is further enhanced by the pocketed coils in the support core, which can move individually in response to shifts in position, preventing additional motion transfer. As a result, co-sleepers shouldn’t be too bothered by their partner’s movements.

Perimeter Support

We found that the thicker coils around the edges of the Luxe Hybrid help to keep the edges of the mattress stable. However, the contouring foam layers compress easily by design, and this is most noticeable near the perimeter of the mattress. Those with mobility issues may want to choose a mattress with firmer edges. But because of its hybrid design, the Luxe Hybrid does provide more usable area than many all-foam beds, which tend to have less robust edge support.

Durability

3/10

The Luxe Hybrid’s hybrid construction protects against sagging and the development of body impressions better than many all-foam mattresses. However, like any mattress, its lifespan will be impacted by routine care and the weight of the sleeper using it. In general, we expect this mattress to last for about seven to eight years, which is similar to other hybrid mattresses.

Ease of Movement

Our testers found the Luxe Hybrid’s memory foam and polyfoam comfort layers to be decently responsive. This means that the foam regains its shape quickly once pressure is removed, making it easier to move around on the mattress. The bounce of the coils also helps with movement. However, the thick foam layers do slightly restrict movement, which may make this mattress less comfortable for active sleepers.

Sex

The Luxe Hybrid’s pocketed coil support core provides the bounciness that partners are often looking for when it comes to sex. The coils also allow for good temperature control while making it fairly easy to move on the mattress without making too much noise. The medium (5) firmness also ensures a comfortable surface.

Odor Emissions

When you first receive your DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid, you might notice a slight chemical smell. This is called off-gassing, and it’s a normal byproduct of the manufacturing of the foam used to make mattresses. While off-gassing is generally considered harmless, the smell can be unpleasant to some. Be sure to let your mattress air out in a well-ventilated room until the smell dissipates.

What Is the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid Made Of?

The DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid is a 14-inch hybrid mattress made of a combination of foam and pocketed coils. Memory foam and polyfoam layers are quilted into the Euro-top cover. Below these is a layer of transitional polyfoam. 

The support core has two components. A layer of pocketed coils sits on top of dense base foam. There are more robust coils around the perimeter of the mattress to reinforce edge support.  

All foam layers are CertiPUR-US certified, which means they meet safety and durability standards as determined by a third-party organization.

Which DreamCloud Mattress Is Right for You?

The Luxe Hybrid is DreamCloud’s most expensive model. Its main advantages over DreamCloud’s other models are its additional foam and medium (5) firmness, which led the Luxe Hybrid to be favored by our side sleepers under 230 pounds. Both the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid and the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid have a medium firm (6) feel favored by back sleepers and stomach sleepers on our testing team.

While the Luxe Hybrid has a 14-inch profile, the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid is slightly shorter at 13 inches tall. Our testing team found that the Premier may be a better choice for people who sleep on their stomach. The 12-inch flagship DreamCloud Classic Hybrid is the brand’s most affordable option, and our side sleepers over 230 pounds liked it slightly better than the other models.
