Walmart launched the Allswell digital home brand in 2018. The collection offers budget-friendly sleep products, including mattresses, toppers, bed frames, pillows, sheets, and pet beds.

Allswell’s mattress line consists of five hybrid models. The flagship Allswell Mattress combines gel-infused memory foam and pocketed coils at an accessible price. 

Our testing team evaluated the Allswell Mattress in several performance categories. We’ll cover those results, including which types of sleepers this mattress is best suited for and what it’s like to sleep on the Allswell Mattress.

What’s It Like to Sleep on the Allswell Mattress?

The Allswell Mattress combines consistent support and notable temperature control. We found that the reinforced perimeter makes it easy to get into and out of bed and use the full sleep surface. The graphite and copper gel in the comfort layers is designed for cooling, and our temperature readings showed that the bed retains little heat.

The mattress’ firm (7) construction is especially well suited to side sleepers over 130 pounds, stomach sleepers under 230 pounds, and back sleepers of all body weights.

Based on these evaluations, the Allswell Mattress is a 7 on our 10-point firmness scale, which qualifies as firm. 

This rating appeals to a variety of sleepers, especially back sleepers. Side sleepers over 130 pounds and stomach sleepers under 230 pounds may also find the Allswell Mattress comfortable.

Side Sleepers

The Allswell Mattress is well suited to side sleepers over 130 pounds. However, our testers in this weight group found the Allswell Luxe and the Allswell Supreme more comfortable for side sleeping because of their thicker comfort systems. Meanwhile, team members under 130 pounds preferred the Allswell Cool for side sleeping because of its softer feel and more generous comfort system.

Back Sleepers

Across body weights, most back sleepers are likely to find the Allswell Mattress comfortable. Our testers over 230 pounds noted a nearly ideal blend of contouring and support. Every other Allswell model also earns high marks from our back sleepers, particularly the Allswell Brick.

Stomach Sleepers

Because of the Allswell’s firm (7) construction, our testers under 230 pounds experienced good support when sleeping on their stomachs. The midsections of testers over 230 pounds sagged a bit. These team members preferred the thick, supportive comfort system of the Allswell Brick.

Pressure Relief

Because of its relatively thin comfort layer, the Allswell Mattress lacks the pressure relief of many hybrids. The Allswell contains a 2-inch comfort layer, while the average range is 2 to 4 inches. Combined with the firm feel, the thinner comfort layer leads to considerably less contouring than we normally see from hybrids. Our testers, especially those under 130 pounds, reported experiencing pressure around their hips and shoulders when lying on their sides.

Temperature Control

Despite its memory foam comfort layer, our temperature readings showed that the Allswell Mattress doesn’t retain much heat. The memory foam is infused with graphite and copper gel engineered to wick away warmth. Because the Allswell is firm, most sleepers don’t sink in deeply enough to significantly restrict airflow around their bodies. Air also circulates through the coil core, allowing heat to dissipate.

Motion Isolation

The Allswell’s memory foam comfort layer and individually pocketed coils limit the spread of vibrations across the surface. Based on our testing, we’d expect most sleep partners to notice very minimal motion transfer. However, because the memory foam layer is fairly thin, the Allswell does not isolate movement as well as fully as some hybrid models.

Perimeter Support

Thanks to the core’s reinforced perimeter, the Allswell has sturdy edge support. Our testers noticed very little compression along the sides, which made it easy for them to lie and sit on the bed’s edge. The Allswell’s stable perimeter can also help you get into and out of bed and allow you to utilize the mattress’ entire surface.

Durability

The average hybrid mattress lasts 7 to 10 years depending on use and care. Based on its construction, we anticipate that the Allswell Mattress is likely to meet this estimated timeframe. However, sleepers may notice evidence of wear and tear, such as creaking springs.

Ease of Movement

Because of its reinforced perimeter, firm feel, and responsive design, the Allswell Mattress was easy for our testers to move on. Most sleepers don’t sink deeply into the bed, simplifying position changes.

The Allswell Mattress is firm and responsive, two traits that couples tend to prefer in a surface for sexual activity. Partners should be able to move around freely without sinking enough to feel trapped. The Allswell’s cooling features also help prevent uncomfortable heat retention.

Most mattresses with synthetic foam that ship compressed in boxes experience some off-gassing. This involves the bed releasing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from the manufacturing process. VOCs often have a chemical odor but are generally considered harmless. Set up your Allswell Mattress in a well-ventilated area, and the smell should fade within a few days.

What Is the Allswell Mattress Made Of?

The Allswell Mattress has a quilted cover that contains a .5-inch layer of polyfoam to cushion the surface. The comfort layer uses 2 inches of memory foam infused with graphite and copper gel designed to disperse body heat. Individually pocketed coils make up the core, and the edges are reinforced for more usable surface area. 

Allswell uses CertiPUR-US certified foam. This means it does not contain known harmful materials, like mercury, formaldehyde, and lead.

The mattress arrives compressed, wrapped in two layers of plastic, and encased in a box. To set up your mattress, bring it to your room of choice, remove it from the box, and place it on the foundation. Carefully remove both layers of plastic. It should only take a few minutes for the mattress to take shape, but allow 48 hours for it to fully decompress.
Sleep Trial Orders through the Allswell website come with a 100-night sleep trial. Customers can return their mattresses for a full refund of the purchase price within the trial period. Mattress removal and recycling fees may apply.
Warranty The Allswell Mattress is covered by a 10-year limited warranty. Covered defects include visible indentations over 1.5 inches deep. Normal wear and tear, physical damage, and issues associated with an improper foundation or base are not covered.
